NATURAL STONE IN INTERIOR: GENERAL INFORMATION (PART 1)

Natural stone is a frequently used material in architectural and interior design due to its diverse and sophisticated beauty. Even using natural stone is becoming a trend as this material appears in every interior style from minimalistic to ancient or modern. There are 7 main types of Natural Stone: Granite, Marble, Basalt, Slate, Limestone, Travertine, ONYX. Let learn more about these kinds of stone and their applications in practice.

1. Granite

Granite is a Magma rock type. This is an igneous rock that forms when magma cools slowly beneath the earth's surface, forming large, easily visible crystals of quartz, feldspar, and mica.

Its specifications are: resist most scratches, no damage to heat, can be stained by oils like olive and vegetable oil. Granite has a variety of colors, this type of stone is often used in bathrooms, kitchens, cladding wall designs, stairs or flutes,...

 

 

 

 

 

2. Marble

Marble is Sedimentary Stone type. It is an igneous rock that forms by building up calcium and organic matter, intense heat and pressure. Marble is porous, softer and more water-permeable than Granite. Therefore, if you do not handle the waterproofing thoroughly in the long term, it will absorb water, dust and change color, losing the original beauty. In addition, in terms of construction, it is also more difficult because it is very fragile, chipped and difficult to find similar products, so the construction price is higher than Granite. However, because of the luxurious beauty, the cold tone but elegant color of the stone will bring the homeowner relaxation, coolness and elegance. 3. Basalt

Basalt is a common extrusive igneous (volcanic) rock. This is an extremely strong and durable natural stone as well as harder than granite. Basaltic eruptions in the Vietnamese territory are mainly in Gia Lai, Binh Dinh, and Quang Ngai. Currently, basalt is used a lot, especially in works such as paving, garden paving, walkway paving, wall cladding, interior decoration, landscape decoration for townhouse projects, villas, resorts, office buildings, condominiums.
